Helmets for Electric Scooters

Yes, according to current regulations, individuals under the age of 16 are required to wear a helmet while riding an electric scooter. For adults, wearing a helmet is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended for safety reasons.

Yes, in many cases a bicycle helmet is perfectly adequate for everyday riding on an electric scooter — especially during calm urban and recreational rides. It is important that it fits well, has safety certifications, and provides stable head protection.

However, for faster electric scooters, it is worth considering more enclosed models, such as a full face or modular helmet.

The most popular types of helmets for electric scooters are:

• full face helmet,

• modular helmet,

• half helmet,

• classic bicycle helmet.

Each model offers a different level of protection and is suitable for various riding styles.

The choice of helmet primarily depends on the riding style and speeds achieved. For urban riding, a lightweight bicycle helmet or half helmet works well. If you are using a more powerful electric scooter or riding dynamically, a modular or full face helmet would be a better choice.

When choosing a helmet for an electric scooter, it is worth paying attention to:

• type of riding,

• level of protection,

• safety certifications,

• ventilation,

• weight of the helmet,

• adjustment and fitting system.

The faster the electric scooter, the higher the level of protection should be.

A helmet should be replaced:

• after a severe fall,

• if there are any damages or cracks,

• after several years of intensive use,

• if the adjustment system stops working properly.

A damaged helmet may not provide adequate protection during another fall.
